Once a carpenter's home, now thoughtfully renewed, Maragos House is a traditional holiday home in Perivoli, Corfu, combining history, craftsmanship, and comfort. Its original features have been carefully preserved and restored, offering an authentic stay in a Corfu village while providing the ease and quality expected of a modern holiday home in Greece.
The House StoryMaragos House takes its name from the Greek word maragos, meaning carpenter, a reflection of the generations of craftsmen and builders in our family who once lived and worked here.
This house has been part of our family for generations. When we began the renovation, our aim was not to change it, but to carefully restore it. We approached the process as a concept home, balancing preservation with a quiet sense of luxury. Every decision was made with attention, respect, and time.
The house invites you to step back in time, while still offering comfort and ease. Many of its original features have been retained and restored, including the floors, walls, and structural elements, which carry the marks and texture of its history. Rather than replacing them, we chose to renew them, allowing the character of the space to remain intact.
Throughout the house, you will find original pieces that have been thoughtfully integrated into its new life. The carpenter’s workbench has been transformed into a dining table, bringing the history of the space into everyday use. Original wardrobes and built-in structures have been preserved, offering both function and a sense of continuity.
Maragos House features two bedrooms and is designed to feel both grounded and refined. At the front, a private patio opens onto the village, while at the back, a garden offers a more secluded outdoor space.
Located within the village of Perivoli in Corfu, the house sits within a real neighbourhood, not a resort setting. Staying here is an opportunity to immerse yourself in village life, to experience the rhythm, the sounds, and the atmosphere of a place that has remained largely unchanged over time.
