South Corfu

The south of Corfu offers a quieter, more open landscape, shaped by olive groves, small villages, and long stretches of coastline. It is less developed than the north of the island, with a stronger sense of continuity in both the environment and everyday life.

Perivoli is located within this part of the island, positioned between coastlines that offer very different experiences. To the east, the sea is calm and shallow, looking out across the Ionian Sea towards mainland Greece. To the west, the coastline opens to the Adriatic, with long sandy beaches, deeper waters, and wide, uninterrupted views.

Nearby, Lefkimmi is one of the main towns in the south, known for its river, local cafés, and everyday amenities. It remains a functioning town rather than a tourist centre, offering a more grounded sense of life on the island.

Above the coast sits Chlomos, a traditional village with narrow streets and elevated views across the sea and surrounding landscape. It is one of the more preserved villages in the area, reflecting older architectural styles and a slower pace.

A short distance away is Lake Korission, a protected natural lagoon surrounded by sand dunes and open land. The area is known for its quiet beaches, wildlife, and unspoiled character, offering a contrast to more developed parts of the island.

South Corfu is defined by space, simplicity, and a closer connection to the natural environment. It offers a different experience of the island, one that is less structured around tourism and more shaped by landscape and local life.
